About

The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN)

The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) is a multi-lingual, multicultural coalition and network of over 400 immigrant leaders, allies, and immigrant-serving organizations, that supports and builds power for immigrants and refugees across Washington State through direct services, education, organizing, policy advocacy, and funding.

As the largest immigrant-led coalition in Washington State, WAISN is a powerful network of immigrant and refugee rights organizations and individuals spread across 27 counties. We provide support, capacity, and resources to empower organizations to build their strength and unite as a single, statewide voice for immigrant justice. As a queer and trans immigrant-led nonprofit, WAISN is committed to dismantling oppressive systems and creating a world where all immigrants can thrive.

WAISN’s mission is to protect and advance the power of immigrant and refugee communities through a multiracial, multi-gender, multi-generation, multilingual, and multi-faith coalition. Our organizing strategy educates and mobilizes statewide to uphold and defend the rights and dignity of all immigrants and refugees, centering the voices of impacted communities.

The WAISN Resource Finder

The WAISN Resource Finder, a community-driven database of vetted resources for immigrant and refugee communities in Washington State, goes beyond simply listing available services. It bridges the gap between resource providers and community members by educating providers on cultural sensitivities, language needs, and the specific requirements of undocumented individuals.

Unlike other resource databases in the state, the WAISN Resource Finder actively vets resources to ensure their accessibility to undocumented immigrants, providing detailed information about ID requirements, language support, and potential limitations based on immigration status. This approach fosters trust within the community, knowing that the listed resources are tailored to their needs and accessible regardless of their immigration status.

The Resource Finder serves as an invaluable tool for the WAISN Deportation Defense hotline, the largest and only hotline dedicated to assisting immigrants in Washington State, and is widely utilized by community organizations across the state to connect their immigrant and refugee clients with the resources they need.

While the Resource Finder is community-driven and constantly updated, it remains a work in progress, reflecting the imperfect nature of resource availability. Nevertheless, it stands as a comprehensive and accessible platform, specifically designed to empower immigrant and refugee communities in Washington State.
The WAISN Deportation Defense Hotline

The WAISN Deportation Defense Hotline (the “Hotline”) is the only statewide hotline exclusively dedicated to serving immigrants and refugees, particularly undocumented immigrants, in the state of Washington. The Hotline is WAISN’s ear on the ground, a two-way line of communication between WAISN and Washington’s immigrant community that serves as the foundation for WAISN’s priorities, initiatives, and immigrant justice work.

The WAISN Hotline was created in 2017 to empower and protect community members by sharing knowledge and resources for the safety and well-being of immigrants in the face of harmful immigration enforcement. Hotline operators facilitate access to WAISN’s immigrant-centered deportation defense mutual aid work by educating community members on their rights, supporting with accompaniment requests to court and immigration hearings and appointments, connecting detained individuals with the Legal Orientation Program, and assisting with immigration bond fund applications.

The Hotline has built connections and trust with community members across the state, and it is now the first place many Washington immigrants call with questions on a wide range of issues that impact their daily lives and to be connected to the resources they need to survive and thrive

Call 1-844-724-3737; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. All Hotline operators are members of our immigrant communities and bilingual in Spanish and English. Interpretation services are available in nearly 300 languages. We serve all immigrants and refugees of every race, ethnicity, embodiment,  gender identity, sexuality, nationality, location, language, and culture.
